Saraland Middle School Library opens at 7:00a.m. every morning and remains open until 3:00p.m. The library is also open during the After School Tutoring program for students who need to check out a book or work on a project. The After School program is every Tuesday until 4:00. In addition, the library is open for study hall every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 7:10 to 7:30. At that time, students may work on homework, projects, study, take AR test, and/or read for pleasure.
Students have access to the SMS eLibrary. There is a link on the school website located in the SMS News and Events. The eLibrary may be accessed seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Currently we have approximately 376 books that includes different reading levels, fiction, and nonfiction. The students have received a red card with their user name and password. If they have lost the card, they may request a new card from Mr. Lowe or Mrs. Green. Please encourage your child/children to read during the holidays and summer months.
Alabama Virtual Library
Students are permitted to do research on the Internet using Alabama Virtual Library (AVL). During their reading classes, students will be taught how to access AVL to help provide them with a valid data base for their research. There are no user names or password to access this program. You can access the program through the library links page or simply Google Alabama Virtual Library.
